Nora is our shared language for a better future
- a collective voice.
Nora was born out of the work with the Nordic Charter for Women’s Health 2040.
In 2025, 136 experts from across the Nordic ecosystem gathered at the Danish Parliament in Copenhagen. Starting from a vision for 2040 - brought to life through the story of Nora, a fictional yet evidence-based woman whose life journey illustrates how women’s health could be addressed differently than it is today - participants worked backwards in time.
Together, they identified the reforms, system changes, and shifts in norms needed in the coming years to make this vision a reality. The process led to a clear realisation: although the different expert tracks - Equitable Research, Women-Centred Care, Inclusive Innovation, Innovative Governance, and Health Literacy & Awareness - used different language to describe them, they all identified the same enabling infrastructure. Basically - Nora helped them realise they all want the same change.
The Nordic Charter for Women’s Health 2040 was launched December 2025 at the Embassy of Finland in Denmark, co-hosted by The Nordic Council of Ministers, Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies and Nordic Women’s Health Hub, and the framework has been published in the Lancet.
NORA’s mission is to turn the vision set out in the Nordic Charter 2040 into action.
