A Vision for Nordic Women’s Health in 2040

"By 2040, every woman in the Nordics lives in a society where health is a birthright, not a benefit - anticipated, equitable, and seamlessly woven into everyday life”

The Nordic Charter for Women’s Health 2040

On September 8, 2025, 136 women's health experts and women with unmet healthcare needs, from across the Nordics gathered at the Danish Parliament with one question:

What would women's health look like if we were unbound by present bias?

The answer became the Nordic Charter for Women's Health 2040, in a strategic partnership between The Nordic Women’s Health Hub and The Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies. It is not a wishlist. It is a shared framework guiding policy, investment, research, and innovation across borders.

One vision.
Five missions.

1. Equitable Research

What if Nordic health research systematically accounted for biological and social differences across populations?

2. Women-Centred Care

What if healthcare became an experience where women truly feel seen, heard, and validated?

3. Innovative Governance

What if comprehensive women's health policies ensured preventive care access at every life stage?

4. Innovative Ecosystems

What if every founder had an equal opportunity to bring their best women's health solutions to life?

5. Health Literacy & Awareness

What if women's health were fully normalised across every life stage?

The vision is the destination.
NORA is the engine of transformation.

We exist to turn the vision set out in the Charter 2040 into funded research, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and measurable change.
